Kindred Spirits

Today started off all uphill as I left Sarria.  I am happy to say that I don’t have total recall on all the segments of the Camino.  Sometimes it is good to just be surprised.  Rain had been predicted, but it turned out to be a lovely day.





During my morning break I met a couple of women and we exchanged Camino greetings.  I enjoyed my coffee and almond cake and then got up to head out.  The two ladies were also heading to the trail about the same time.  Jocelyne and I started walking together and we had the best conversation!  It is amazing how the Camino can bring together kindred spirits.




The time just flew by and soon we were at the 100KM sign.  It was great to have her with me to take pictures at the marker.  Dave also came out for the documentation of our remaining mileage.  As it turned out, Jocelyne was heading farther down the road before stopping, so we parted ways.  I hope our paths cross again somewhere along the trail. 





Tomorrow the forecast is for rain, so I will keep the poncho at the top of the pack.  Let’s hope I don’t need it…

Last night it was raining and cold.  Waking up I could hear the rain, thus making it difficult to mentally rally and get going.  However, my desire for a good bed selection prompted me to move... so off I went into the storm. People Who Need People

Well, at 11:30-ish I walked into the square in front of the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral for my second time.  The feeling was just as amazing as the first time! I will follow up with some more thoughts later and a final short video of my trip, but the real highlight today was accomplishing this amazing journey with some fantastic people.   Thank you, fellow pilgrims, for spending time walking and talking with me.  We didn’t solve all the world’s problems, but we sure tried…   Buen Camino!         14.69 miles 29,840 steps   Location:   Santiago de Compostela @ 42.88049, -8.54575
